Things to do in Nagambie

The best things to do in Nagambie grouped by who they suit: kids, couples, rainy days and free activities, with links to the full guide for each.

Nagambie is a lake town with winery country around it, which means the things to do split naturally by who you are entertaining. Everything below has a fuller guide behind it; this page is the sorting hat.

01With kids

The foreshore does the heavy lifting: Buckley Park's playground and splash park, the lakeside paths, and the Black Caviar statue for the photo. Add the Tahbilk wetlands boardwalk for a wilder walk, boat and kayak hire on the lake, and a short fishing session at one of the kids' fishing spots. The full plan is in Nagambie with kids.

02For couples

The two estates are the anchor: Tahbilk for history and Marsanne, Mitchelton for the tower, Muse and the day spa, compared properly in the wineries guide. Add the Goulburn River cruise when it is running, dinner at Eighteen Sixty from the pubs and dinner guide, and a night at the lake end of town.

03On the water

Half the point of Nagambie. Boat and kayak hire, water skiing zones and the rowing course are covered in boating and water skiing and Lake Nagambie; anglers start at the fishing guide. Watching a rowing regatta from the bank costs nothing and is better theatre than people expect.

04Rainy day

Cellar doors, long lunches and the district's museums carry a wet day; the rainy day guide has the plan, and the eat and drink guide does the rest.

05Free

Lakeside paths and the foreshore walk, the Black Caviar statue, watching a regatta, the Goulburn Weir picnic area, and the markets below.

06Markets

The farmers' market runs at Tahbilk, usually the fourth Sunday of the month; see the farmers' market guide. A community market also runs in town on some weekends; check dates with GoNagambie before building a morning around either.

07Common questions

What is Nagambie known for? The lake, the rowing, the fishing and two of Victoria's best-known wineries, Tahbilk and Mitchelton, all within ten minutes of one short main street.

Is Nagambie worth visiting without a boat? Yes. The wineries, the foreshore, hire kayaks, the wetlands walk and the food strip carry a weekend comfortably; a boat just adds the fishing dimension.

How many days do you need in Nagambie? A day covers the town and one winery; a weekend fits the lake, both estates and a proper dinner. The itineraries section has ready-made plans.
