This guide collects as little about you as it can. This page sets out what we hold, why, and how to get it changed or removed. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 and the Spam Act 2003.
01What we collect and why
Newsletter. If you join the monthly email, we store your email address, the date you signed up and the page you signed up from. That last detail is our record of your consent. We use your address only to send the newsletter, and every issue has an unsubscribe link that works straight away.
Contact form. If you send a message, we store your name, email address and what you wrote, so we can reply and follow up on corrections or reports.
Fishing reports. If you send us a report, we store your name, email address and what you wrote. We publish only the report itself, credited the way you asked (or anonymously). Your email address is never published and is used only if we have a question about your report.
Fishing plan tool. The details you enter (spot, species, conditions, time and access) go to an AI model through our hosting provider to write your plan. Don't put personal information in the conditions box. We don't link these requests to you.
Visits. Our hosting provider records anonymous visit statistics (pages viewed, referring site, device type, country) so we can see which guides are useful. The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies.
02Who else sees it
We don't sell, rent or swap personal information. It is handled by the services that run the site: our website host and database, the service that sends notification emails, and the email platform that sends the newsletter. Some of these store data on servers outside Australia. We give them only what they need to do that job.
Affiliate links take you to the retailer's site. Once you're there, their privacy policy applies, not ours.
03How long we keep it
Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Contact messages are kept for as long as we need them to deal with what you sent, then deleted.
04See, change or delete your information
Email hello@gofishnagambie.com.au or use the contact page and we'll tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. We aim to respond within 30 days. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, tell us first. If that doesn't fix it, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
05Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date on this page. If the change affects how we use your email address, we'll tell newsletter subscribers first.
