GoFish Nagambie is an independent visitor guide to Lake Nagambie and the Goulburn, written by people who fish this water and know the town. It exists because the information visitors actually need, where the fish hold, which rules apply, who takes a boat trailer, was scattered across a dozen official sites or simply unwritten. This page explains how the guide works and how we keep it honest.
01Independence
We are not affiliated with the former GoFish Nagambie event organisers, with Goulburn-Murray Water, the Victorian Fisheries Authority, Strathbogie Shire or any venue we write about. The history page covers the event era and how this site relates to it. No business pays to be recommended.
02How we check facts
Every rule, date or statistic on this site links to the authority it came from: fishing rules to the VFA, water and weir information to Goulburn-Murray Water, parks and events to Strathbogie Shire, and venue details to the operator. Where a detail changes often, such as opening hours or prices, we say so and link to the source rather than publishing something that will go stale. Pages carry the date they were last updated, and when we get something wrong, we fix it; tell us via the contact page.
03How the venue reviews work
Venue listings show each business's current Google rating and a plain-language summary of what reviewers consistently say, including the downsides. We compile these from published Google reviews, note the month they were checked, and refresh the ratings monthly. We do not accept payment for favourable summaries, and we do not use star graphics or review markup to dress pages up for search engines.
04How we make money
Some links are affiliate links, marked where they appear, and featured business placements support the guide; both are disclosed and neither changes what we recommend or how a venue's reviews read. The things that would end this site's usefulness fastest are recommendations that cannot be trusted, so the commercial tail does not wag the editorial dog.
05The one rule we push
Rules change: seasons, limits, closures, access. We link to the current source everywhere, and the standing advice on every fishing page is the same: check the VFA before you keep a fish, and check what's on the lake before you tow a boat up the Hume.
