While they're fishing

A time-slot plan for partners and kids while the anglers are out on Lake Nagambie: bakery breakfast, the foreshore, Tahbilk wetlands and a cellar door lunch.

The anglers left at half past five. This is the other half of the day, planned so that by the time the boat comes back, you have had the better morning.

Time Plan
7:30am Bakery breakfast in town
9:00am Lakeside walk or playground
10:00am Tahbilk Wetlands (weekends)
12:00pm Lunch at a cellar door
1:30pm Goulburn Explorer cruise or back to base
2:00pm Meet the anglers at the ramp

01How the morning works

Start at the bakery and cafes without the pre-dawn rush, then take the foreshore: the lakeside path, Buckley Park playground and the Black Caviar statue fill the first hours gently; the full kid version is in Nagambie with kids.

Mid-morning, the Tahbilk wetlands boardwalk is the best non-fishing nature in the district, ten minutes from town, and it flows naturally into a cellar door lunch at Tahbilk or Mitchelton. If the Goulburn Explorer cruise is running that day, it slots perfectly after lunch; check days and times in advance.

Then meet the boat at the ramp, hear about the one that got off, and produce photographic evidence of the better morning.

02Common questions

What can a non-fishing partner do in Nagambie? A proper morning's worth: cafe breakfast, the foreshore and statue, the Tahbilk wetlands walk and a cellar door lunch, with the day spa at Mitchelton as the upgrade. See also things to do in Nagambie.

Is everything walkable? The town part is: bakery, foreshore, playground and statue. The wetlands and wineries are a ten-minute drive, so keep one car back from the boat ramp plan.
